‘PINK SLIP’ for me? WHAT??????

Excuse me if I seem a little discomboobilated in my writings, but I am used to just writing things down in my journal or prayer book. It had never occurred to BLOG about this life changing experience or to even think that someone may be having a similar life changing experience, may need a good laugh (on my account… no worries!) or just for dear friends who want to stay connected to my new life here in Washington. I have about 5 months of “back material” to get caught up on, so I won’t bore you with the small stuff – just highlights!!

So, after 13 years with the same company and several layoffs over the past few years, the ever dreaded ‘pink slip’ flat darn hit me in the face! Yup, I got the “Thanks for your time, your effort, but you didn’t make the cut” talk. It was emotionally crushing to see people who I considered my friends before I consider them colleagues just turn their back and not even SPEAK to me (let alone even look at me) simply because “they didn’t know what to say.” It made me want to stand up and scream… ‘Hey, this isn’t about you!!! You still got a job… it’s about me!!” Let’s see, ‘I’m sorry’ would be a good start… or how about ‘I just don’t know what to say’… GO FIGURE!! But it was important to me to wrap up my desk and responsibilities and leave with a positive attitude (as CHEERFUL as possible, which I have to say WAS pretty DARN cheerful… considering!). So with a step out the door and not letting it hit me on the way out… SO LONG job comfort… HELLO UNKNOWN… and unemployment!
